Wet Rice Dominant Farming refers to the practice of planting rice on dry land in a nursery and then moving the seedlings to a flooded field to promote growth. Wet Rice Dominant Farming originated South of the Yangtze River in China 8 - 13 thousand years ago.
What is Wet Rice Dominant Farming?When farmers first grow rice, they have to cultivate the ground. They do this by using water buffaloes to pull a plow across the field and remove weeds and other unneeded plants. Then they fertilize the soil. Then they carefully fill the soil area with around 2-3 inches of water. Meanwhile in a nursery rice in grown into seedlings for about 1 month before they are ready to be taken to the waiting fields. Then the fields are maintained by keeping check of the water levels and making sure some areas are not too crowded. When the grain is ready they fields are drained and dried. Then the rice is sent through a mill to take off the husk and whiten or polish them. Then they are sold off to companies.
But rice can only be harvested once a year so to try to increase the surplus a method has developed. This is called double cropping. This can only be effective if there are warm water. |

There are some parasitical illnesses than can harm human when they stand in water too long.
